Photography is not only science,it is also a artform and hobby.In this article I will discuss about definition,history, scientific aspect, artistic aspect,types,general misconceptions,Cultural and social aspects, challenges and tips of photography.



What is photography?

Making vivid and unique images by using a camera and proper artistic skills is known as photography. Time will pass,peope will pass away but photos sustain during the flow of time river.



Technical definition:-

 Applying optical physics theories,the art and science of capturing reflected light by focused object in the sensor combining pixels is called photography.

The word "photography" is derived from the Greek word " Photos Graphein" which means "Painting with light".

        The history of photography is of more than 200 years.In 1830s Joseph Nicéphore Niépce first took a parmanent image in France.The fisrst camera was Camera Obscura.It was simply a box camera.


The initial photos were monochrome images.Eastman kodak first made 'Kodachrome' to take colourful images.Initial cameras used simple lenses and photosensitive films to record negative images.


    From these negative film cameras todays modern DSLRS and MIRROR LESS cameras are developed.After World War II the demand of photography touched the peak of the graph.



Basic science of this artform:

 The reflected light from the focused object passes through the lens and makes a reversed image on the film.

      

The photochemicals of the film reacts with with the light and thus images are formed.Nowdays morden cameras use high quality lenses and sensor to record light.


Then the recorded light is processed in the camera and we get a photo in digital format.



Artistic aspects :

Photographyis not only science,it is also an artform.This statement is wrong that photographers take iamges.The reality is they made images.



It may sound harsh that any phototaker with a can only take photos, but can't make. Professionals make vivid and unique images by applying their artistic skills.


So don't call yourself a photographer just after clicking some photos.There are 15+ technical things, knowledge and understanding about subject and post processing skills have to be considered for making an image.

            Thus we can interact with people of different religions and castes and this practice can build harmony and reduce communal violence.

      This art is the primary source of bread and butter for a lot of people.It can also be a strong medium of conservation of Nature and Natural Resources.

Tips to become a better 
photographer:


Photography gear: Start with whatever you have.I started my journey with a 2 MP phone camera which didn't have autofocus.Even smartphone can give you an excellent image in proper lighting situation.


• Take photos after photos and learn the art from your mistakes.Each time try to take better images than the previous shot


• start learning technical things: There are lot of free YouTube videos which you can watch to learn technicalities like exposure, composition and post processing


• Understand your subject and spend time with it


• Share them with the world


• Take inspiration and suggestions from your role models
